LASER HAIR REMOVAL

How does it work?
To eliminate hair, the laser emits gentle pulses of energy that pass through the skin to the hair follicle. This energy is then absorbed into the hair follicle. This energy is then absorbed into the hair follicle to destroy it so that hair can never grow there again.

Am I a viable candidate for laser hair removal?
Laser hair removal can be applied to all areas of the body and on all types of skin (even tanned or dark skin).

Does it hurt?
The treatment causes only minimal discomfort. Patients often say it feels similar to the snap of a rubber band. We utilize state of the art cold air technology that not only protects the skin but also optimizes comfort.

What are the side effects?
Slight redness or localized swelling can occasionally occur, but this usually subsides within the first 24 hours after treatment.Serious side effects such as burning or scarring are rare. We utilize cooling technology as well as detailed medical oversight to ensure the safety of all our clients.

How many treatments are required?
Typically patients will see results in 4-6 treatments, though this number will vary based upon skin tone, hair color, and several other factors. Your practitioner will talk to you about variables that may affect your individual results.

LASER FACIALS

How does the Laser Facial treatment reduce the signs of photodamage?
The Laser Facial works by focusing a beam of light to a target in the skin such as enlarged blood vessels and irregular chromophores. The enlarged vessels and irregularities are removed without scarring or damage to the treated or surrounding area.

Do lasers work on all skin types?
Today’s advances lasers are capable of treating a wide variety of skin types.

How many treatments are required?
Typically several treatments are required for full-face treatment. The average treatment takes about 15 minutes. Results may become apparent after the first few treatments.

What are the side effects?
Unlike other laser procedures, Laser Facials rarely cause any discomfort.   Usually the only thing you will feel is a warmth over your face as the laser is rapidly swept over the skin.

Results will vary but you should expect your skin to appear reddened (”rosy glow”).   You can expect to return to your normal activities immediately with minimal precautions such as sunscreen.

How does the Laser Facial treatment differ from CO2 lasers, chemical peels, and dermabrasion?
Unlike CO2 lasers, dermabrasion or chemical peels that remove the outer skin and require significant healing time, the Laser Facial treatment gently penetrates the skin without damaging it and destroys the blood vessels and brown pigment that are the cause of the problem.

LASER VEIN REMOVAL

How does the laser work?
With a beam of light, the laser can deliver a prescribed dose of energy to the spider veins. The laser “selectively” coagulates the problem veins, while sparing surrounding areas. After treatment, the vessel slowly and naturally disappears.

How many treatments are required?
Results are seen within one to three weeks. Typically, one to two treatments are recommended.

Can we be sure that this will work on my veins?
This is something that must be determined with each client individually. Generally, all small red veins of the face and upper body achieve very good results.

What are the side effects?
There is some minor discomfort associated with this laser treatment. Most patients describe the sensation as a series of hot rubber band snaps or pricks to the skin. We can often reduce or eliminate this by cooling the treated area with an air cooling device.

Any redness or swelling that appears will disappear within a few days and  patients can resume normal activities immediately.

PIGMENTED LESION REMOVAL

What types of brown spots or pigmented lesions will the laser remove?
The laser is most commonly used for removing brown age spots, “liver spots”, freckles and many brown birthmarks. At your consultation we will identify your specific type of lesion and discuss the removal success rate associated with it.

Why doesn’t the laser remove my normal skin pigmentation also?
The laser light was designed for its properties that selectively target dark concentrations of melanin. If after the abnormal concentrations of melanin was removed, and treatment continued on normal skin, some whitening could occur. However, your body’s natural regenerative system would replace the normal melanin after a period of time, returning the skin to its natural state.

What are the side effects?
The laser emits light in very short flashes called pulses. The impact of the energy from the powerful pulse of light is similar to the snap of a thin rubberband. After the treatment, the area will feel similar to a slight sunburn. Typically, within a day or so, any discomfort disappears. The area may remain reddened for one to three weeks. After the redness clears, the skin is returned to its natural smooth coloring and texture.

How many treatment seassions will it take to remove the pigmented lesion?.At least 50% of all common pigmented lesions are removed with one treatment. If a lesion covers a large area, it may be treated in several stages to avoid unnecessary discomfort.

Can the excess pigmentation come back?Common pigmented lesions do not return. Some birthmarks may return after a period of several months to a year. However, the procedure can be repeated with similar results.

What type of post-treatment care is necessary?
A shower can be taken the next day, but avoid scrubbing the treated area. Since most common pigmented lesions are caused by exposure to ultraviolet sun rays, it is imperative that you avoid prolonged sun exposure during the healing process.

CHEMICAL PEEL

What is a Chemical Peel?
A chemical peel is an outpatient procedure that uses a chemical to remove damaged skin cells from the outer layer of skin. The chemical is applied with a brush or other soft applicator and usually left on your skin only for a few minutes.

Chemical peels are becoming more and more popular as a way to freshen the face by removing the outer layer of skin to reveal the smoother, newer skin underneath. People of all skin types can benefit from chemical peels to give their face a younger, healthier look.

What Can a Chemical Peel Do For Me?
• smooth rough skin and improve its texture.
• clear facial blemishes for a period of time.
• reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
• reduce splotches, age spots, or uneven skin tone.
• reduce the appearance of scars caused by acne and can sometimes control acne breakouts.

Where can chemical peels be used?
A chemical peel can be performed on the entire face or just the problem areas. Certain types of chemical peels can be used on other parts of the body besides the face such as the legs or arms.

How long will the treatment take?
From start to finish the procedure should take approximately 45 minutes. There is little or no downtime.

What should I expect after my peel?
Due to multiple variables, you may or may not peel. Although, you may notice light flaking in localized areas for several days. Peeling usually begins the second day after treatment and may continue for 5 days.
Your skin may experience residual redness for 24 hours.
Your skin may feel warm, tight, and “pulled” for several days

When Can I schedule my next peel?
We usually recommend you receive your chemical peel every three to 6 weeks for maximum benefits. This is dependent on the type of peel you receive. Ask your skin care professional when to schedule your next peel.
